Nutmeg, our 16-year-old female beaver and mother to Butternut, recently visited the Zoo vet for her annual physical exam. At a follow-up exam, veterinary dermatologist Dr. Danielle Tulloss performed a skin allergy test and confirmed that Nutmeg is allergic to trees, grasses, dogs, cats, and even humans. Skin testing for animals uses the same techniques as skin testing for humans.

Why Choose Us
Thorough Diagnostics
We carefully evaluate each patient's skin and ear condition using the most appropriate diagnostic tests, including cytology, skin scrapings, cultures, biopsies, allergy testing, and advanced imaging when indicated. Our goal is to identify the underlying cause of disease rather than simply treating symptoms.
Comprehensive Record Review
Every patient's history matters. We thoroughly review previous medical records, laboratory results, biopsy reports, cultures, imaging, medications, and treatment responses to better understand how the disease has progressed and what therapies have—or have not—been successful. This comprehensive approach helps guide more informed diagnostic and treatment decisions.
Individualized Treatment Plans
No two patients are alike. Every treatment plan is tailored to each pet's diagnosis, lifestyle, medical history, and response to previous therapies. We monitor progress over time and adjust recommendations as needed to provide the safest and most effective long-term management for chronic skin and ear disease.

Lily
My baby girl has been through a lot in life. Mostly surrounding her feet. After multiple failed treatments of unexplained “allergies”, more than one biopsy, multiple unexplained and aggressive nailbed infections, a devastating diagnosis of cancer (which was thankfully found to be a misdiagnosis), a nailbed infection so aggressive that it would not improve with any prescribed medications and ate through her toe bone leading to the amputation of that toe. I couldn’t take it anymore. My heart was broken, and I couldn’t keep failing my girl.
