Nicole Henderson

Practice Manager

Hi, my name is Nicole Henderson, and I am the Practice Manager at Dermatology Clinic for Animals. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.

Personal Hobbies and Interests

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, hiking with my dogs, and crafting. I have two Australian Cattle Dog mixes named Finn and Tilly, and two cats named Tuna and Pigeon.

Favorite Part of My Job

My favourite part of this work is seeing a pet that came in with flaky skin and missing hair return for a recheck looking like a whole new dog!

Why I Chose This Profession

I originally went to college as an English major, but I needed a part-time job while studying and took a position as a customer service representative at a small animal general practice — where I absolutely fell in love with veterinary medicine. As a 19-year-old, I had no idea the veterinary technician profession even existed. I left school, worked full time at the clinic for a year, and began helping as a veterinary assistant. I chose to stay in this profession because of the difference I can make in a pet's or a person's life every single day, and I love forming relationships with patients and their parents.

Education

I attended the Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology from 2007 to 2009, studying Veterinary Technology and earning my Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology.

Professional Background

While I was working as a technician, my favourite things were venipuncture and maintaining and monitoring patients while they are under anesthesia.

Work History

I started in veterinary medicine at age 19 as a customer service representative before becoming a veterinary technician, a role I held until 2017. From May 2017 to August 2019, I worked as a Practice Consultant with the American Animal Hospital Association, visiting clinics across the country, performing accreditation evaluations, and consulting on best practices with practice managers and DVMs. I then served as Hospital Administrator at Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital from August 2019 to August 2021, and as Practice Manager at Mission Oaks Veterinary Clinic from August 2021 to December 2025. I joined the Dermatology Clinic for Animals team as Practice Manager in January 2026, where I manage staff, ensure patient care standards and client satisfaction, and maintain inventory.
